The Search For Martin Carpentier Now Follows A New Strategy

A week has passed since the disappearance of Martin Carpentier and, according to the last update from provincial police, the suspect may still be in the area of Saint-Apollinaire. However, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has decided to be a little more discreet.

Following an analysis of information gathered on-site, investigators are changing their "strategy."

We will only communicate with [the public] if we have new information.

On Twitter, the SQ explained that "in order not to interfere with ongoing operations in the area, we will only communicate with [the public] if we have new information."

Questioned by Narcity Québec on Tuesday, SQ spokesperson Ann Mathieu said it was important that "the information we have, he doesn't have it either."

"If he listens to us, we don't want him to know everything we're doing to locate him," she said.

Norah, 11, and Romy, 6, were found dead on Saturday in the area where the search is currently underway.
