A Study Has Revealed The True Number Of Quebecers That Have Been Infected With Coronavirus

A new study released by Héma-Québec and the Institut national de santé publique (INSPQ) reveals the true extent of coronavirus infections in Quebec.

The study showed that 2.23% of participating blood donors between the ages of 18 and 69 "were infected with the COVID-19 virus."

124,880 People between 18-69 estimated to have contracted COVID-19

According to a statement, the study therefore "extrapolated that about 124,880 people in the age group in question contracted the virus since the beginning of the pandemic."

Quebec's Ministry of Health and Social Services, meanwhile, "reported about 37,000 cases for the 20 to 69 age group for the same period."

The study found the highest rates of infection "in the Montreal and Laval regions, at 3.05%."
