Fall is about colourful foliage, chunky sweatshirts, and pumpkin spice everything. But more importantly, this season is truly about Halloween and all things scary. So, we sought out some haunted places in Quebec for you to seek out wherever you're in the mood to get spooked.

Autumn's crisp air combined with the vast amount of ghost stories being told around this time makes this my favourite time of the year.

Not only can you gather pumpkins at the pumpkin patch and pick apples off the trees but you can also enjoy the spookier things in life, like haunted locations.

Throughout our province, there are a ton of old buildings filled with so much history.

But sometimes these histories come with dark stories that have left a long-lasting impression on generations following.

From beautiful cathedrals to prominent private schools and abandoned mental institutions, there are a ton of haunted locations throughout our province that are worth checking out... as long as you're not as jumpy as me.

Cathedral Of The Holy Trinity

Where: 31, rue des Jardins, Québec City, QC

Located in Quebec City, this church was built in the early 1800s and is said to have an interesting story behind it.

Legend has it that a body was once buried under the building and it's spirit, which no one can see, will sometimes start to play the organ — making it seem like it's playing itself.

Some people have even deemed it the "most haunted place in Canada."

L'Auberge Saint-Gabriel

Where: 426, rue Saint-Gabriel, Montreal, QC

Not only is this the oldest standing establishment in Montreal, but it was also the first spot to gain a liquor license in the city.

In a building so old, there are bound to be a few stories that stay with you. In the 19th century, a little girl lost her life in a tragic fire and it's been said that her spirit still wanders around today.

Plains Of Abraham

Where: The Battlefields Park, Quebec City

Many people lost their lives in the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759 and legend has it that some spirits are still out to seek their revenge.

And, some people have even claimed to have seen or smelt sulphur and canons going off. Spooky.

Grey Nuns Residence

Where: 1190, rue Guy, Montreal, QC

Montreal's Grey Nuns Residence's dark history that has allegedly caused students to have nightmares of burnt and disfigured children.

What makes these dreams even creepier is that in 1918 there was a horrific and fatal fire at the orphanage in the building. So, a past reality is seeping its way into people's subconscious.

And, the bodies of the children are supposedly still buried under the building.

Institut Dorea

Where: 148, Chemin de Covey Hill #1140, Hinchinbrooke, QC

This abandoned building used to be a mental institution. And since, visitors have claimed that the merry-go-round will still spin, even years after it has housed any patients

Talk about creepy.

Sacred Heart School of Montreal

Where: 3635, ave. Atwater, Montreal, QC

Located in Downtown Montreal, this private high school may have a darker history than one would guess.

Apparently, the grounds are fenced with old tombstones from the graveyard that the school was built on. Yes — the school is built on an old cemetery.

Students that have attended the school have all heard the story of "Alice" the ghost of a young girl who is said to haunt the grounds.
