The Majority Of Quebecers Say They Won't Travel To The US Anytime Soon, A New Report Shows

But, 72% of Quebecers do hope to travel in 2021.

Despite insurance companies offering increased coverage for Canadians travelling to the U.S., many of us, especially Quebecers, don't feel ready to visit our neighbours to the south.

A new survey from the Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada (THIA) sampled 1,000 respondents, in both French and English, to see how and what Canadians are feeling towards travel as we move into the New Year.

82% Of Quebecers won't travel to the US this winter

In general, 79% of Canadians don't intend to travel to the U.S., even with coverage for all COVID-related expenses. In Quebec, that stat rises to 82%

Other figures from the survey suggest that 57% of la belle province's residents want to travel in 2021.

However, 57% of them said they would only want to travel within Canada.

In fact, the top destinations that that group are dreaming of for a post-pandemic life are:

  • Canada (38 %)
  • Europe (25%)
  • the Caribbean (19%)

The survey also indicated that roughly 50% of Canadians living in Quebec aren't sure if they even have COVID-related coverage with their insurance.

THIA says that it's important for travellers to know their coverage, their health, their trip, and their rights when it comes to travel insurance.
