This Montreal Restaurant's Live Jazz Will Transport You To New Orleans In The 1920s

Modavie has jazz and blues performances every day of the week.

It's no secret that we've got some pretty impressive jazz here in Montreal, between our festival and themed bars in the city, like Modavie Restaurant in Old Montreal. And ever since we've run in the '20s, it feels like it's jazz-lovers' time to shine. As someone who grew up listening to it in the house, I can tell you that it's an incredible style of music and Montreal is a great place to enjoy it.

If you don't know much about the genre, just think of it like another one of Montreal's expertise: the restaurant scene

Jazz is all about learning the rules and knowing how to break them. Kind of like the Montreal culinary scene.

It's about knowing what makes you happy, but being open to what else is out there.

Take Modavie as the perfect example.

As a French-style bistro, you know it's got an incredible menu.

You can try the famous rosemary lamb chops, but they've got lots of other dishes like a butternut squash cavatelli.

Modavie's jazz and blues performances start at 7 p.m. every day during the week and from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.

The best feeling when it comes to this music is when you find that perfect pair or two things that just seem to fit so perfectly together. Kind of like when you find the perfect wine pairing.

And with 150 types of wine at Modavie, you've got lots of options for a culinary masterpiece.

Modavie offers a make-your-own charcuterie board, where you can improvise and create a custom board, perfect for a 5 à 7 or a night out over a bottle of wine.

The restaurant also told MTL Blog that "if people don't want to eat in a restaurant, we also have our picnic basket with everything they need to eat in a park."

But my favourite thing about jazz is the abundance of talent and styles that exist.

Every night at Modavie, you can hear live performances with so much skill and passion that you wouldn't be able to help but tap your toes.
