There's A Risk Of Thunderstorms, Tornadoes & 40 C Temperatures In Parts Of QC Right Now
The weather is likely to be all over the place from Sunday to Tuesday this week as Environment Canada has issued heat alerts in several areas in Quebec.
MétéoMédia is also warning of thunderstorms and a possible tornado risk in some parts of southern Quebec. In these areas, "a warm and humid air mass will persist through Tuesday" with a humidex value of 40 C.

During this time, it is recommended to drink plenty of water and to stay cool. Plus, to watch for the effects of heat illnesses such as swelling, rashes, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and worsening of certain health problems.
Here are the areas concerned:
- Drummondville - Bois-Francs
- Eastern Townships
- Lachute - Saint-Jérôme
- Lanaudière
- Montreal and Laval
- Richelieu Valley - Saint-Hyacinthe
- Vaudreuil - Soulanges - Huntingdon
According to MétéoMédia, "the risk of thunderstorms extends over a large part of the province. Several areas are in the moderate risk zone, but the areas from Gatineau to Mont-Laurier are in the high-risk zone. Thunderstorm supercells could develop [...] It is in these areas that a tornado could form on Sunday afternoon."
These thunderstorms could be accompanied by "strong winds gusting to 70 km/h as the front passes." Heavy rain and large hail are also possible.
