The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has alerted Quebecers of the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes in Enoki mushrooms sold at Metro grocery stores and is recalling all 99-gram trays that were sold until May 14.

In a news release, the CFIA wrote, "Foods contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not have visible spoilage or a suspicious odour, but can still make you sick."

"In severe cases, the illness can cause death," says the CFIA. So you'll need to be careful if you experience any of these symptoms: vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches, and neck stiffness.

If you are pregnant, the symptoms may be mild and "flu-like", but the baby could be infected and "born prematurely" or worse, "die before birth."

The elderly population and people with weakened immune systems are said to be most at risk.
