A Quebec Bus Stop Was Just Named The 'Sorriest Bus Stop In North America'

Is anyone surprised?
Senior Editor

StreetsBlog USA has announced the results of its "Sorriest Bus Stop in North America" championship and Quebecers will be proud (but perhaps unsurprised) to learn that the winner is in their capital: a barely-demarcated stop in front of a window manufacturer on a Quebec City service road.

The Réseau de transport de la Capitale's (RTC) stop number 2980 stood out for its location on "a sidewalk-free road that becomes completely impassable any time it snows," StreetsBlog's Kea Wilson wrote in an April 19 post.

The stop on rue Frank-Carrel beat another sad pick-up spot on New York City's Staten Island in the final round to claim the shameful title.

Contenders in previous rounds included stops in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and Pittsburg.

"The RTC is aware that the location of some bus stops is less attractive because of the area in which they are located," the transit company told StreetsBlog.

The RTC also vowed to "take advantage of the review of its network to assess the layout of this sector with all the involved stakeholders."
