It would be on the heels of an intense ongoing language debate in Quebec.

The CAQ government recently introduced the controversial Bill 96, "An Act respecting French, the official and common language of Quebec," in order to reaffirm the status of the language and reform the current language.

That bill would bolster the OQLF and cap spots at English-language CEGEPs, among other measures.

At a press conference in May, Minister Simon Jolin-Barrette deplored what he called "institutional bilingualism" in the province.
