Thousands of people took to the streets of Montreal on March 13 to protest the Quebec government's lockdown measures, one year after the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Montreal police said many protesters did not wear masks, according to CTV News, which violates COVID-19 public health rules.

A spokesperson for the SPVM told CTV that at least a dozen arrests were made.

The SPVM told MTL Blog that it is currently tallying the total number of arrests and fines dished out to protesters. 

A source who witnessed the event told MTL Blog that some protesters were holding up Donald Trump posters and continuously shouting the word "freedom." 

A Facebook page for the protest, named "Marche des Insoumis," shows that 8,700 Quebecers responded to the event. The protesters' demands are listed on the page.
