Despite criticism of his government's François Legault remains one of the most popular premiers in Canada, according to a poll by the Angus Reid Institute.

65% of Quebecers who responded to the survey approve of Legault. That's compared to an approval rating of 66% for Doug Ford among Ontarians and 69% for B.C.'s John Horgan.

65% Legault's approval rate

Angus Reid points to low case numbers this summer and a plan to better protect CHSLD residents from a second wave of COVID-19 as possible reasons for Legault's popularity.

Occupying the last places in the popularity contest are Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney, and Newfoundland & Labrador Premier Andrew Furey with 44%, 42%, and 34% approval, respectively (though Angus Reid chalks Furey's poll numbers up to his newcomer status).

Angus Reid polled 4,703 Canadians, members of its forums, between August 26 and 30 for this report.
