As the government tightens health measures in red zone schools to further limit contact between students, it's also seeking some help. The provincial Ministry of Education is looking to fill 2,000 jobs in Quebec schools "in order to lighten the workload of school personnel" and be able to respond to these regulations, according to a statement.

The jobs pay more than $20 per hour.

In line with Je contribue, a site the government used to recruit volunteers, Quebec has also set up the "Je réponds présent" platform to hire support staff for schools.

Positions To Be Filled

"This platform will make it possible to speed up the recruitment of people who want to be student supervisors, custodians or daycare educators in the school system," the government says.

While no training is required to become a custodian, supervisory and educational positions require a high school diploma.

In addition, for the latter two trades, "a 390-hour Certificate of Vocational Education in Child Care or an equivalency recognized by the school service center is required."

Wages range from $20.55 to $24.22 per hour, and schedules vary from one school service center to another.

Prior to employment, hirees will undergo paid training on sanitary measures.
