More snow, more cold: Montreal weather looks miserable for the rest of the week

If you thought last week's snowstorms were part of winter's last big blast, think again. Montreal weather is serving up more flurries and bitter cold over the next few days.

As per Environment Canada's latest forecast, Thursday night should bring a few flurries that will linger until around midnight before the sky turns cloudy. With winds of 20 km/h, the temperature will drop to -12 C, but it will feel much colder, with a wind chill of -19C overnight.
Friday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, but no break from the cold. Wind gusts of up to 40 km/h will make it feel like -19 C in the morning and -14 C in the afternoon, even though the daytime high will be -8 C. By nighttime, the skies will clear, and temperatures will dip to -14 C, though without strong winds, it won't feel quite as harsh.
Saturday will bring a slight warm-up, with a high of -3°C and a mix of sun and clouds during the day. However, the snow is set to return by the evening, with a 60 percent chance of flurries overnight. Sunday will stay cloudy, with a high of -2 C and a low of -6 C overnight.
And looking ahead to Monday, more snow could hit Montreal as temperatures rise slightly above freezing to 1 C.
The Weather Network estimates that 3 cm could fall over the city between Saturday and Monday. That's a walk in the park compared to what we've been dealing with.
But given that many streets are still buried under mountains of snow and the city's cleanup efforts will likely stretch into next week, every extra snowflake is just another reminder that winter is far from over.
