3 Quebec Beaches Got Certification For Top Notch Cleanliness & Safety

All of them are in one city.
Contributing Writer

It's going to be a hot summer in Quebec this year, so where's a clean beach to take a dip?

This year, 23 of the country's beaches earned Blue Flag Canada certification, a lofty title given out annually to beaches and marinas that meet high standards for safety, environmental stewardship, and cleanliness.

Only three Quebec beaches made the cut, all of them in the Eastern Townships city of Magog. They are: Plage de l'Est, Plage de l'Ouest, and Plage des Cantons.

"A Blue Flag is recognized around the world as a symbol for accessible, sustainable beaches and marinas," stated Mark Mattson, president & waterkeeper of Swim Drink Fish, a non-profit that administers the award.

"With people staying close to home, people are looking for places to connect with the water. We are thrilled to highlight the best beaches and marinas Canada has to offer."

According to Swim Guide, Magog's beaches on the sandy shores of Lake Memphremagog are both safe and accessible, offering lifeguards on duty from June to August or September, changing facilities, and plenty of restaurants in case you're feeling peckish.
