Earlier today, Infrastructure Canada announced that the Samuel De Champlain Bridge's lights would be illuminated into a multicoloured rainbow to celebrate the start of Quebec's deconfinement, including the end of curfew.

The illumination will take place from sunset in Montreal — which is at 8:32 p.m. — until 9:30 p.m.

"The bridge will light up once again today in the colours of the rainbow to mark the beginning of lockdown measures easing in Quebec, which has been made possible through the public's hard work to [...] get vaccinated," said the federal minister of infrastructure, Catherine McKenna, in the announcement.

"From the early days of the pandemic, the Samuel De Champlain Bridge has been a symbol of support for Montrealers and for all Canadians."

After the rainbow fades at 9:30 p.m., the bridge's lighting will return to blue and green shades that are used during birds' migratory period, which runs until June 15, according to Infrastructure Canada.
