We Made It Montreal, Curfew Is Officially Over

Here's what else is reopening!
Senior Editor

May 28 marks the long-awaited end of curfew in Quebec.  The nightly curfew first came into effect in January.

Friday also marks the beginning of Quebec's reopening process.

What’s reopening in Quebec on May 28?

In addition to the end of curfew, restaurant terrasses are reopening and outdoor gatherings in private yards and on balconies are now allowed.

All week, Montreal has been buzzing as restaurants construct terrasses on the streetfront. Rue Sainte-Catherine looks like it’s coming back to life.

Restaurants are allowed to seat two adults and their minor-age children from two different addresses or parties from the same address for outdoor dining.

Private outdoor gatherings can have a maximum of eight people from different addresses. They still have to practice social distancing.

Also, indoor and outdoor venues (like stadiums) with assigned seating are allowed to welcome 250 people per section for a maximum of 2,500 people.

Finally, interregional travel is once again authorized.

What’s reopening next?

Montreal is still in the red zone. Premier Legault is aiming to have all regions in the orange zone, which allows for indoor dining, by June 7.

Bar terrasses are scheduled to reopen on June 11.

Outdoor festivals could once again take place as of June 25.
