We all know that sponsored ads are just part of normal life these days, but how exactly do they work?
Université de Montréal, in collaboration with HEC Montréal and IVADO, a digital intelligence institution based in Quebec, is offering a free course called "Recommender Systems: Behind the Screen" in which you can learn all about this new world of e-commerce and consumer marketing.
According to the page description, you'll learn "the fundamental concepts and methods allowing the most relevant item suggestions to users from e-commerce to online advertisement."
The course is totally free, but if you want a certificate, you'll have to pay $190.
Taught over six modules, the course will focus on topics including machine learning, ranking and fairness/discrimination in these systems.
Students are able to go at their own pace, but it's estimated that it will take about six weeks to complete the course.
The next session begins on March 12, so there's still time to sign up.
