Environment Canada Has Issued A Heat Warning For Montreal & There Won't Be Relief For Days

The humidex could reach 40 between Thursday and Monday.

On Thursday morning, Environment Canada issued a heat warning for Montreal Island, the Châteauguay–La Prairie area, the Laval area, and the Longueuil–Varennes area.

The Weather Network indicates that temperatures could peak around 33 C with the humidex reaching 35 Thursday afternoon.

Environment Canada suggests that it could get even hotter after Friday, writing that "the combined values of temperatures and humidity will produce humidex values between 35 and 40."

Quebec's Ministry of Health and Social Services recommends that you:

  • "drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day;

  • "avoid alcoholic beverages;

  • "spend at least 2 hours a day in an air-conditioned or cool location;

  • "take at least one cool shower or bath per day, or cool your skin several times per day with wet towels;

  • "limit physical activity;" and

  • "wear light clothes."
