Quebec City Was Just Voted Best Canadian City To Explore For The 5th Year In A Row

Sorry Toronto.
Contributing Writer

Travel + Leisure just announced its 2020 World Best Awards' results. For the fifth year in a row, our beloved Quebec City was named Canada's top travel destination. No surprise there.

The New York-based publication is considered one of the largest most influential travel publications worldwide. It's from the same company that brings you other magazines, like InStyle, Martha Stewart and Food & Wine.

Editor's Choice: 13 Spontaneous Day Trips That Are Less Than 2 Hours Away From Montreal

T+L's Instagram page calls it "all of the visual inspiration you need to kick your wanderlust into high gear."

Each year, the magazine has its World's Best Survey, where readers can weigh in on their thoughts and opinions on everything from hotels, to destinations, to spas, to resorts and more.

This year's survey opened on November 4, 2019 and closed on March 2, 2020, just before the worldwide effects of limited travel and mandatory orders to fight COVID-19.

According to the lists, "The results reflect our readers’ experiences before the pandemic, but we hope that this year’s honorees will inspire your trips to come — whenever they may be."

And we're proud to tell you that in the Canadian cities category, Quebec City one first place for the fifth year in a row, with a score of 85.46.

The city has also a World's Best Award Hall of Fame honoree, meaning it's been on the list for ten consecutive years.

"With its atmospheric cafés and classic bistros, its sweeping views of the St. Lawrence River, and its historic Old Quebec neighborhood (a UNESCO World Heritage site), the province’s capital exudes timeless romance," according to the description.

And when it comes to the readers, themselves, they love the famous European feel even when though it's outside of Europe, as well as the fact that it's a great place to visit at any time of the year.

La belle province, in general, did us proud including being the place with one of Canada's top resorts and one of the #17 hotels in not just Canada — but the world!

Yes, we're talking about you, Manoir Hovey.

Montreal was also the #3 Canadian destination after Vancouver.

How lucky are we that Quebec isn't just a destination, but the place that we get to call home.

With the amazing deals from the ministry of tourism, you can see for yourself why Quebec City is Canada's top destination.

Or go back if you've been before to fall in love all over again.

Félicitations, Québec!
