Montreal is set to be swept away by the enchanting melodies of Studio Ghibli next month. The Symphonie des Vents de Montréal will host a live concert featuring the iconic soundtracks of Hayao Miyazaki's timeless films. The special show promises to transport audiences to the worlds of "Spirited Away," "My Neighbor Totoro," and more.

Fans of Ghibli's animated masterpieces will have the opportunity to hear Joe Hisaishi's acclaimed compositions in live arrangement, bringing to life the magical adventures and heartwarming moments that have captivated audiences worldwide.

From the sweeping melodies of "Castle in the Sky" to the haunting tunes of "Princess Mononoke," nostalgia is sure to soar higher than a magical floating fortress. Selections from "Howl's Moving Castle," "Ponyo" "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," and "Kiki's Delivery Service" are also on the setlist.

The concert is scheduled for June 1 at 7:30 p.m. and will take place at École Le Plateau. Tickets are priced at $25 for adults, $15 for students, and $5 for kids aged 2 to 11.

The Symphonie des Vents de Montréal has been a cornerstone of the city's music scene since 1998 when it was founded by Éric Levasseur. The ensemble was intended to provide a platform for aspiring musicians by offering them a space to continue their musical journey after graduation.

Under the baton of conductor Sébastien Balbino, the orchestra continues to push the boundaries of musical excellence, earning accolades for its innovative programming.

For those who miss this show, there's a live piano Ghibli concert planned for June 15 as part of YATAI MTL.
