A Montreal business suffered what police have described as significant damage after an arson attack Monday morning — the second this month, police say. The first was on May 7.

The business is located on rue Beaulac near the intersection with chemin de la Côte-Vertu in the borough of Saint-Laurent. The fire began sometime before 6:30 a.m., when the fire department called police to the scene as they worked to extinguish the blaze, SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils told the media.

A Saint-Léonard business was the target of two separate arson attacks in as many days, Montreal police say.

The latest occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin, firefighters were able to quickly control the "minor" fire in the business on boulevard Langelier near the intersection with boulevard Lavoisier. They are said to have found "several incendiary objects" at the scene.

The Saint-Laurent arson occurred at around 12:50 a.m., when authorities received a 911 call about broken glass in a business in an industrial area on rue Deslauriers near the intersection with boulevard Lebeau.

A Montreal store suffered what police described as minor damage after it was apparently firebombed in the night between Sunday and Monday.

The incident occurred at around midnight, when a person flagged down officers patrolling the Pierrefonds neighbourhood to report a fire inside a store on boulevard Saint-Charles near the intersection with boulevard Pierrefonds. SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc told the media early Monday morning that officers arrived at the scene to find a store window broken and flames inside.

A 2 a.m. 911 call alerted authorities to the blaze on rue Deslauriers near rue Benjamin-Hudon in an industrial area of the borough of Saint-Laurent near Highway 40 and the Town of Mount Royal.

A business in Saint-Léonard was the target of arson Wednesday morning, according to Montreal police.

Firefighters were dispatched to a building on rue Jean-Talon near rue de Fontenelle following a 4 a.m. 911 call. They were able to extinguish the flames but not before they caused what SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant described as "considerable" damage to the business.
