Those longing for an eventual escape from the noise of Montreal this summer can find it in the sprawling lavender fields of Bleu Lavande in Stanstead, Quebec. The popular destination in the Eastern Townships is opening for visits on June 19. For the first time ever, the fields will be free to roam.

Seven days a week from the opening date to August 23, visitors can access the fields at no charge.

After that, visits will be free only on weekends until October 12.

The team at Bleu Lavande wants to gift visitors a summer experience in the "breathtaking beauty of the landscape."

"Strolls in the lavender grove have lost none of their undeniable charm and the magnificent panorama will serve photography enthusiasts!" the company wrote in a statement.

"This year's tourist season promises to be a special one, but the good news is that we can open our doors!" Nathalie Nasseri, co-owner of Bleu Lavande, said.

"Quebecers need to feel the great outdoors, to see what's beautiful here at home. This is the time to encourage local businesses and, by the same token, to participate in the dynamic economic of the Eastern Townships."

The on-site lavender boutique is also opening on June 19. There, visitors can browse a number of lavender products, like soaps and oils.

This year, Afghan and Munstead lavender plants will also be available for purchase, so shoppers can take a piece of the fields home with them.

Of course, Bleu Lavande is instituting new measures to protect the health and safety of visitors.

The field's usual guided tours, massages, and yoga classes have been cancelled.

Sadly, the bistro will remain closed. But there will be a street food truck on weekends to satisfy any hunger after a long day of exploring the fields.
