Is visiting a beautiful beach with crystal-clear waters on your summer bucket list? If so, you don't have to journey far.

Right here in La Belle Province, you can visit a beautiful sandy beach near Montreal with bright blue water that's been called the "Caribbean of Quebec."

In the Montérégie region, just under an hour from Montreal, you'll find Saint-Timothée Islands Regional Park, a gorgeous park home to a sandy beach with tropical-like water.

Comprised of an archipelago, the park is mainly made up of two islands located in the St. Lawrence River.

The beach is the perfect place to cool off during hot summer days. Though it may not reach tropical temperatures, the water here can take on an almost turquoise hue similar to that of beaches in the tropics, which is why it's been dubbed the "Caribbean of Quebec," according to Bonjour Quebec.

You can lie out on the sandy beach and work on your tan, or take a refreshing dip in the clear waters. The park has lifeguards on duty, as well as pedal boats, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and even beach toys that are available to rent for some extra fun.

You can also paddle around the island basin with your own watercraft, which can be launched from a launch dock accessible directly from the park's parking lot. During the peak summer season, an online reservation is required.

Besides the beach, there's plenty to do here, including volleyball, cycling paths and hiking trails.

There's a snack bar-style restaurant on site serving up mocktails and bites, as well as an ice cream shop where you can cool off with a frozen treat. A picnic area is available if you'd like to bring your own lunch.

Outside the park, the city of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield offers a unique, nautical downtown core featuring a marina (the second-largest in Quebec), a boardwalk, shopping, and restaurants.

The beach at Saint-Timothée Islands Regional Park is open every day until August 17, and the weekends of August 23, 24, 30 and 31 as well as September 1.

Admission costs $15 for non-residents of the area, and tickets must be purchased online prior to your visit.
