A Quebec restaurant just scooped second place in Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in Canada for 2024. While Montreal got its fair share of recognition in the national food fight, great eats in the province aren't limited to the big city. In fact, half a dozen other Quebec restaurants placed in the ranking.

Yelp's data science team compiled finalists based on popularity and ratings. Then, community managers and a trend expert weighed in, refining the list to ensure it highlighted both well- and lesser-known spots.

Here are some of the best restaurants in Canada you'll probably want to include on your next Quebec road trip:

Buvette Scott

Where: 821, rue Scott, Québec, QC

Reason to go: This Old Quebec restaurant, ranked second in the country on Yelp's new ranking, serves regional cuisine in a laid-back setting. For starters, the menu offers jambon de canard, or duck breast prosciutto ($11), along with pavé de patate combining potatoes with sour cream, chives, and truffle ($22). Seafood is represented by the pétoncle dish, where scallops are paired with tofu and Jerusalem artichokes, complemented by XO sauce ($16). The navet and betterave dish combines turnips and beets with honey and garlic sauce for a vegetable-focused option ($17). And the gnocchi di ricotta is a comforting choice, with cheesy pasta served in a spicy tomato sauce with eggplant and Pecorino ($26).

Reason to go: This rustic Quebec restaurant ranked 28th in Canada, and customers praise it for the incredible service, server friendliness and knowledge about the food. Fresh oysters are served with a unique granité and lemon twist ($20/$34). The salmon gravlax ($17) is well-balanced dish with celeriac, cream cheese, and pickles. The squash dish ($21) combines duck ham, egg, and onion confit, creating a unique flavour profile. The terrine foie gras ($22) is a luxurious option, featuring peach, brioche, and mustard.

The sweet bread is a must-try item, and the beef is often described as exceptional. The overall quality of the dishes is consistently high. The atmosphere is cozy, complemented by excellent service, making it a highly recommended destination in Québec City.
