Quebec Just Recorded Its Worst Daily Case Increase Since The Pandemic Began

The province has reached a not-so-great milestone yet again. Quebec reported its highest daily of COVID-19 cases at 1,514 as of December 1.

This new count brings the total case count for Quebec to 145,062 since the start of the pandemic.

Previously, the record for the highest number of cases was on November 25 with 1,464 new cases, which means the record was beat twice in the span of seven days.

The data also indicates nine new deaths due to the virus during the past 24 hours.

The number of hospitalizations has also increased by 21 from November 30.

Montreal remains the region with the highest number of cases at 51,848. Of these, 386 of which were recorded on December 1.

Today, the Government of Quebec also announced strict new rules for big stores and malls to enforce, in hopes of these spaces not becoming "additional outbreak sites."
