You know it's officially summer when Montreal starts closing streets for pedestrian use and this summer is no different. 

As of May 26, rue Sainte-Catherine Est between rue Saint-Hubert and avenue Papineau in the Montreal Village will be closing to vehicular traffic all summer long, until October 4.

The iconic Village strip will feature all the classic summer favourites like restaurant and bar terrasses as of May 28 and June 11, respectively.

In an Instagram post, Village Montréal promised "new installations" and "events for all" this season.

The group said more than 150 businesses will be open — all likely super excited to welcome people back after a long and punishing year of lockdowns.
