The City of Montreal is planning to completely redevelop avenue des Pins in the Plateau-Mont-Royal to be greener, safer, and more user-friendly for all Montrealers.

"With widened sidewalks, protected and elevated unidirectional bike paths, nearly 150 new trees and contemporary urban furniture, this redesigned artery will position itself as an essential access route to Mount Royal, in addition to considerably improving the safety, comfort and the experience of all users of the avenue," the city said in a press release

Along with safety and cosmetic improvements to the street, the city is planning to replace the water and sewer networks and upgrade the natural gas, electrical, and telecom lines.

The work represents a more than $40 million investment and is estimated to be complete by 2023.

"This redevelopment promises to finally highlight all the beauty of the built heritage of Avenue des Pins, while taking into account the mobility needs of each user," said Éric Alan Caldwell, executive committee member responsible for urban planning and mobility.
