It seems as though rent prices are the talk of our province lately, so taking a look at liv.rent's Montreal May 2021 Report keeps us up to date on everything we need to know.

The new report looks at the average rent price in Montreal neighbourhoods, average rates by listing type, and more. And the bad news is — rent in our city is starting to go up...

Since December 2020, Montreal rent started to decrease a little, while March to April was basically the same. But, it looks like this isn't the case for May, instead, it's starting to go on an upward trend.

When comparing May 2021 to April 2021, we can see there were rather large surges in furnished apartment rates in Plateau-Mont-Royal (+7.07%) and Saint-Laurent (15.03%,) but Verdun's rates for such went down (-5.56%).

In the graph below, we can see the average price for unfurnished apartments. Findings show that the cheapest place to rent is Ahuntsic-Cartierville, while Downtown seems to be the most expensive.

As for furnished apartments, the same places remain the most and least expensive — with Plateau-Mont-Royal not too far behind Downtown in the oh-so-pricey department.
