In a gamble that could raise the stakes of the city's entertainment and tourism sectors, Loto-Québec has shuffled its deck and revealed a new card: a 200-room hotel on the grounds of the Montreal Casino.

Located on scenic Île Notre-Dame, the hotel will have a low-height and eco-conscious design, maintaining the greenery of Parc Jean-Drapeau. The hotel will harmonize with its surroundings, blending in rather than standing out, according to Loto-Québec.

Now, you might be wondering: what's a casino without a little risk? The project's estimated price tag is a cool $150 million, a wager Loto-Québec is betting will pay off by boosting tourism and generating revenue for the city and province.

"The Casino de Montréal has been a landmark for 30 years, and this hotel will elevate us to the top among the best entertainment destinations," said Jean-François Bergeron, President and CEO of Loto-Québec.

"Its unique location at Parc Jean-Drapeau’s heart means this hotel will be in a league of its own, a true showcase of Montréal's beauty," he said.

Mayor Valérie Plante added a community-centric perspective, emphasizing the project's alignment with the administration's vision of offering nature-friendly urban experiences. "The hotel will adhere to the highest environmental standards, enhancing Parc Jean-Drapeau's appeal, a location dear to the hearts of Montréalers," she said.

The hotel is expected to welcome its first guests within two to three years and will be solely owned by Loto-Québec.

As they say in the world of gambling, "Rien ne va plus!" Nothing more can be bet; the wheel has been spun, and now, Montrealers must wait and see where the ball will land.
