2 Montreal Restaurants Say A Robber Broke Through A Wall To Steal From Them Both

Lola Rosa & Restaurant Mélisse appear to have been ransacked.

Two neighbouring Old Montreal restaurantsLola Rosa and Restaurant Mélisse — say their establishments were ransacked and robbed between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Someone reportedly broke through the wall between the restaurants and stole from them both. 

Chef Tom Allain of Restaurant Mélisse confirmed that the restauranteurs believe someone first broke into Lola Rosa's office and then smashed the wall that leads into Mélisse.

"Then they went into our office and somehow busted open the safe [...] It is a big cost for damages to us," he told MTL Blog. 

Allain said they aren't sure how the robber managed to smash the wall, but that "it was just drywall so it was easy." 

This is the second attempted robbery at a Lola Rosa location since the pandemic began, according to a story posted on Lola Rosa's Instagram.

"Make sure you have cameras and alarm systems. Keep your teams and businesses safe!" the Instagram story reads. 

According to Restaurant Mélisse, police are investigating the break-in. MTL Blog contacted the SPVM, which declined to respond for reasons related to confidentiality.
