When announcing the ephemeral mural on Instagram, mayor Valérie Plante wrote "our glorious team has given us a lot of great emotions this year, we simply had to thank them for it, with all our heart."

She continued to thank the Montreal Canadiens for "these beautiful moments, these little parties to watch you and this team strength in the image of Montrealers."

The mural can be found at the foot of Mount Royal.
