A Survey Got Quebecers To Answer Juicy Qs About The Royals After The Oprah Interview

Does the Royal Family hold racist views? Should Canada get rid of the monarchy?
Senior Writer

A new survey by Leger asked Quebecers the questions that are at the top of everyone's minds following Oprah's interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

For instance, does the Royal Family hold racist views? Who do you sympathize with more — Meghan and Harry or the Royal Family? And should Canada "get rid" of the monarchy altogether?

Based on the survey, 66% of Quebecers sympathized more with Harry and Meghan, while 18% sympathized more with the royal family.

Forty-nine percent of Quebec respondents said the events show that the royal family holds racist views, while 20% said the events did not show racism within the family. Thirty-two percent said they didn't know.

According to the survey, 72% of Quebecers believe the monarchy has become "a negative symbol for Canada" and 71% said, "we have to get rid of it."
