Mayor Valérie Plante's famous Pink Line proposal is one step closer to becoming a reality thanks to an investment by the ARTM to study "a structuring electric public transport project to serve the Grand Sud-Ouest region and link it to the city centre."

In a Facebook post, the mayor praised the ARTM's investment in "the western branch of the pink line [...] with an initial envelope of $20 million."

According to the ARTM, the study will "specify and estimate the mobility needs of the territory studied as well as its growth."

It will also determine a "route and a structuring mode of transport [...] as well as an estimate of the costs of carrying out the project."

The promise of the Pink Line was central to Plante's first mayoral campaign.

"This is concrete action for Montreal and its neighbourhoods," the mayor wrote in her post.
