This MTL Restaurant Combines Cantonese Food With Peruvian Flavours To Create Unreal Dishes

One of the best parts of the Montreal restaurant scene is the way that it blends multiple cuisines and influences here in the city, and the way they come together in a simple, yet sophisticated way that's just so quintessentially Montreal.

Take Chifa, for example, one of the coolest spots downtown, which combines Peruvian and Chinese cuisine in an unexpected fusion that once you have it, you think, "Why haven't I thought of this before?"

The name comes from chifa cuisine. Basically, it's Cantonese food made with Peruvian ingredients. The perfect blend of traditions and flavours from two vibrant cultures.

Inspired by his childhood, Chef Marcel Larrea, who also owns Tiradito next door, has made a super innovative and creative, yet totally approachable menu, filled with the perfect mix of comfort food and things that'll take you out of your comfort zone.

“Chifa cuisine is about having a shared experience at the table, sort of like going for dim sum on Sundays as a family or group of friends, but in a modern, cool setting,” says Chef Marcel Larrea.

And that sharing experience translates beautifully into takeout. The dishes are just as delicious and capture the true essence of the cuisine, even out of the restaurant. Don't know where to start? Try the packages for two and four.

If you're looking to try something new, or want to add to your roster of go-to spots, check out Chifa. And when it's safe to do so, head downtown for a dining experience like no other.
