'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Actors Responded To The Quebec Version & Reactions Are Mixed

"This is like peeking through another dimension."

On Wednesday, August 19, the first trailer for the Quebec version of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, titled Escouade 99, finally came out. The French-language adaptation* coming to Vidéotron service Club illico appears to reproduce many of the characters — and even some of the storylines — in the original show. Soon after the release of the first Escouade 99 trailer, Brooklyn Nine-Nine actors took to Twitter to share their reactions.

Melissa Fumero, who plays Sergeant Amy Santiago, said watching the trailer "is like peeking through another dimension."

Her tweet has received over 10,000 likes and 800 retweets.

In a subsequent reply, however, she seems to raise questions about Escouade 99's casting diversity.

"Gotta [say] though after watching this... I’m suddenly curious about the Latina population in Quebec. Just sayin," she wrote.

MTL Blog asked Club illico about the diversity of the Escouade 99 cast, but the service did not respond to the question.

Other actors also chimed in in the replies to Fumero's tweet.

Stephanie Beatriz and Joel McKinnon Miller, who play Detective Rosa Diaz and Detective Norm Scully, respectively, offered only emojis — a series of "woozy faces" from Beatriz and a "flushed face" from Miller.

Joe Lo Truglio, known as Charles Boyle in the American version, responded to one commenter's description of his Escouade 99 equivalent as "FASCINATING" by saying, "yeah that's one word for it."

Other actors like Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, and Chelsea Peretti have yet to publicly comment on the new Quebec version.

Lead Andy Samberg hasn't said a peep either.

Escouade 99 premiers on Club illico on September 17.
