Lachine Is About To Get A Lot More Green With A New Waterfront Park
Who doesn't love a new addition to our already amazing city? Mayor Valérie Plante has said time and time again that she's committed to making Montreal more green. And, her administration is putting that promise into action by transforming Lachine's Port de Plaisance into a waterfront park that's "accessible to all."
I'm sure this comes as exciting news for many locals because as if there's one thing Montrealers love, it's parks.
By looking at the photos that Plante shared along with her announcement on Twitter, people visiting this new park will be able to go kayaking, tubing, or just sit and take in the views of the water.
The mayor told us "this future park represents a concrete gesture in terms of ecological transition and the fight against climate change, for the pleasure and well-being of the population and future generations."
No official date for the creation of this transformed spot was mentioned in Plante's tweets.
Robert Beaudry, the city councillor of the Ville-Marie borough, expressed his excitement about the project on Twitter saying, "a greener city is a more resilient city."
Valérie Plante seemed to be thrilled to get to share this news with her Twitter followers.
Translation: Our administration seizes every opportunity to make our metropolis greener and more resilient. This is why the Lachine Marina will be transformed into a vast waterfront park accessible to all!
Her tweets went on to say that "this major environmental restoration and shoreline stabilization project will provide the residents of @Lachine_MTL and Montrealers exceptional access to water in this future park facing the banks of Lachine and René-Lévesque Park."
On her Twitter, the mayor also provided a glimpse of what the transformation of Lachine's Port de Plaisance will look like in an aerial view, which you can see above.
