Montreal Was Ranked Canada's Most Expensive City For Parking, So Toronto Wins This One

At least we didn't make top 20 in the world...
Contributing Writer

As we all know, Montreal parking is a hassle — to say the least. A new study from Fixter.co.uk has revealed that Montreal has the most expensive parking per hour in all of Canada. Because when we're not stuck in what feels like a parking lot from all of the construction traffic, our cars are actually parked somewhere. And it's costing us a fortune... but you already knew that.

The list took a look at major cities around the world and calculated the average price of parking per hour in common places, like airports, stadiums and shopping centres. They also found the median price, overall.

Now I know this will come as a shock, but the number one country is... wait for it... New York City.

Whaaaaat?

Seriously, though, that's about as predictable as an I Heart NY t-shirt.

In the Big Apple, you'll spend big money on parking. $4.50 USD ($6.03 CAD) for street parking and all the way up to a whopping $33 USD ($44.23 CAD) for stadium parking.

I mean, after all, we all know Americans love to super-size everything.

Other cities in the top ten included other American hubs, like Boston and Chicago, as well as international destinations, like London and Sydney.

But back to the city I know you're curious about, Montreal. The 514 ranked number 21 overall and number one in all of Canada.

Yes, even beating Toronto at 25. Alright, T.O, you guys win this one...

Other Canadian cities include Calgary at 27, Ottawa at 33 and Vancouver at 36.

The biggest culprits are City Hall for $10.12 CAD and The Bell Centre for $20.24 CAD.

So the next time you get mad at the Habs for not playing well, the real reason you should complain is for the price of parking.

Luckily, though, our street parking is one of the cheapest, averaging at $3.25. That's actually -18.18% from the median.

So at least there's that.

Overall, Montreal ranks about 46.33% higher than the median. But at least we didn't reach the top 20.

In case you were wondering, the three cities with the cheapest parking per hour are Cape Town, Buenos Aires, and Delhi.
