You'll all be happy to hear that summer 2020 in Montreal will be one of the biggest construction seasons to date! Sarcasm aside, Mobilité Montréal and its partners unveiled the plan for this summer's Montreal road construction word, with many large-scale projects planned. Pretty much the entire city will be under construction throughout the summer, so prepare yourselves.
Because of the recent health crisis, many large projects were put on hold. But Mobilité Montréal is working toward efficiency going forward.
According to the regional association, the "coordination of the roadwork performed by its partners during the weekend of June 12 to 15 made it possible to avoid five different complete closures along autoroute 10 and autoroute 15."
Along with the closures on the Turcot, work on the Jacques Cartier Bridge and other large projects will begin or resume across the metropolitan area.
Throughout the summer, 38 construction projects will be active in Montreal.
Here's just a sample of the construction and traffic disruptions that commuters can expect this summer.
Autoroutes
Commuters can expect autoroutes 10, 13, 15, 20, 30, 35, 40, 440, 520, and 720 to be under some kind of construction throughout summer and beyond.
Mobility Montréal
While some projects are already underway, pretty soon construction will cause the complete closure of several autoroutes, including A-15 Sud and A-40 Ouest.
City Streets
If you think you'll be safe from construction by taking city streets to get around, you've got another thing coming.

Downtown infrastructure projects will lead to the closures of rues McGill and de la Commune, including swaths of rue Sainte-Catherine around Philips Square and rue de Bleury.
