The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) along with the Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation (MAPAQ) has recalled dozens of foods sold across Canada for reasons that can pose serious health and safety risks to Canadian consumers.

The grocery items have been removed from the marketplace for various causes including undeclared ingredients, microbial contamination, extraneous materials and damaged packaging, to name a few.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled several brands of fresh-cut fruit sold across Canada including Central Foods Co., Save on Foods, Fresh Start Foods, and more due to salmonella contamination. The initial recall occurred in October 2023 regarding affected cantaloupes. Now, the recall has been extended to countless fresh-cut fruit containers sold at grocery stores across Canada.

The recall was triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results. The CFIA is currently conducting a food safety investigation, which could possibly lead to the recall of other food products. Additionally, the CFIA is ensuring that the affected fruit products are being properly removed from the marketplace.

Health Canada is looking to find new recruits. The federal health department is in the process of stocking its inventory of candidates to fill clerical and administrative support positions and program officer roles. Applicants don't need a university degree and the posted salary range is $50,821 to $70,622.

The inventory, according to the online listing, could be used to fill Health Canada jobs across the country, including in Montreal, where Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada have offices.

The Government of Canada is implementing a new measure that will prohibit the entry of commercial dogs from various countries across the globe considered at high risk for dog rabies.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) stated that the new measure will be put into place to "protect Canadians and their pets, and to reduce the risk of introducing dog rabies (rabies caused by canine-variant viruses) into Canada."

The Canadian government has extended international travel restrictions by at least another month, which means planning your next trip out of the country won't get simpler anytime soon. Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada have confirmed that all existing travel restrictions will stay in place until at least June 30.

That means all travellers entering Canada by land and sea will need to provide their trip details and proof of COVID-19 vaccination on the ArriveCAN app at least 72 hours before arrival. The rule will continue for all regardless of vaccination status.

It's another day and another cosmetic recall. On March 4, Health Canada issued a recall for a makeup remover due to microbial contamination. The product in question is the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar water makeup remover (850 ml) and consumers are being urged to "immediately stop using the product."

Health Canada stated that "some recalled products could contain a common microorganism called Serratia marcescens." While this microorganism rarely causes any severe infection in healthy individuals, it can be dangerous for those with a weakened immune system or other favourable conditions, such as recent surgery.

Health Canada states that the recall involves Brut Classic Aerosol Spray Deodorant (154 g), which may contain benzene.

On February 15, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) issued a news release announcing a number of changes to the current border measures. The federal government said it is beginning to enter a phase of adjusting travel restrictions, which will allow Canada to move toward a "more sustainable approach to long-term management of COVID-19."

As of February 28, on-arrival testing for fully vaccinated travellers will be eased. According to the news release, "Travellers arriving to Canada from any country, who qualify as fully vaccinated, will be randomly selected for arrival testing."
