After naming Montreal's rue Wellington as the coolest street in the world, Time Out is sharing even more love for Montreal with yet another accolade. In a recent list of the world's "40 Coolest Neighbourhoods", Downtown Montreal managed to snag a spot in the 2023 ranking.

"The world’s coolest neighbourhoods this year is, therefore, places with big personalities. Each area’s diversity is reflected in its food, culture and festivals. Community is key: locals have banded together to rebuild their neighbourhood after disaster, to protest the demolition of much-loved cultural venues or simply to create spaces where people can come together and have some fun," Time Out said.

Eaton Centre staple Time Out Market is welcoming a new Italian flavour profile: sandwich shop Bossa is joining the roster of 14 eateries in late February. Bossa is known for its two popular locations in Verdun and Rosemont, where the family-run restaurant serves loaded Philly-style hoagies flavoured with southern Italian flair.

"Since birth, food has been an integral part of my life," said Bossa's owner and chef Daniel Lo Manto. "I grew up making sauces from scratch with my Nonno and mother, starting with a homemade secret tomato sauce which you can now find in our sandwiches."

A new Time Out ranking has named Montreal the ninth-best city in the entire world. Beaten by two Scottish cities and slightly edged out by Berlin at number eight, Montreal's respectable standing tops all other Canadian cities. Toronto sneaks in at number 27, posing no threat at all to the 514.

Last year, Time Out ranked Montreal sixth, three spots higher than this year's verdict.
