Walmart is getting a makeover, so to speak. The mega-retailer is giving its beauty department a boost, promising hundreds of new products from emerging brands on the shelves. Walmart Canada says the additions will make its offering more inclusive, with more makeup shades and products from businesses that are "owned and/or led by historically marginalized groups."

No need to stress about losing track of your favourite legacy brands — they'll still be available in store among the 3,000-plus existing beauty products. The new stuff, Walmart Canada Senior Category Manager for Cosmetics Rosslyn Barbuzzi said in a November 18 press release, will enhance the "beauty shopping experience" and "[introduce] customers to innovative solutions for skincare, trend-focused colour cosmetics and a shade range that is inclusive of everyone."

Walmart is making a major investment in Quebec with two new facilities, including a new Montreal Walmart Supercentre.

“Montreal is an extremely important market for us and we're incredibly excited to be growing in Quebec and offering even more shopping options for our customers," Walmart Canada Regional Vice President for Quebec Cyrille Ballereau said in a March press release.

Walmart is building a new "fulfillment centre" outside Montreal, promising the new facility will "offer better product availability and quicker service" for both online and in-store shoppers.

The planned 457,000-square-foot warehouse in Vaudreuil-Dorion will serve as a delivery hub for Quebec and Atlantic Canada, with enough capacity to store 500,000 items and ship out 20 million products every year, Walmart said in a press release. It will be the company's first such depot in the province and is set to open in 2024.
