Beaches Across Quebec Are Officially Reopening Next Week

Quebecers will soon have another reason to go out this summer. Beaches across Quebec are reopening on June 22 according to the latest update by the CAQ government on June 17. Minister Isabelle Charest also announced the reopening of indoor sports facilities, indoor pools, arenas, and gyms.
Charest said that in recent months, Quebecers have been eagerly waiting to play sports, work out, and enjoy their favourite summer activities.
With the recent reopening of outdoor sites, the government has deemed it safe to proceed with the reopening of indoor sites, including allowing gatherings of up to 50 people in public venues.
Matches for team sports can also resume.
Anyone who participates in these activities must follow health regulations.
"This authorization is obviously good news, but nothing can be taken for granted. Prudence and compliance with instructions must be part of our new way of playing sports in the context of a pandemic," stressed Charest.
"I remain convinced that we can adapt and that, in the coming weeks, thousands of Quebecers, young and old, will be able to start their hockey camp, find their gymnastics club, or play a soccer game."
June 22 is shaping up to be a big day for the province, and especially for Montreal.
Restaurants in the Montreal metropolitan community (CMM), Joliette, and L'Épiphanie are also set to open on June 22.
Indoor private gatherings of a maximum of 10 people will be allowed in the same areas on the same date.

Day camps and summer camps will welcome campers across the province on June 22, too.
The government has worked quickly in recent weeks to reopen favourite summertime activities and destinations like Sépaq parks and campgrounds.
Charest noted Wednesday that the opening of arenas and gyms is "practically the last phase" of reopenings when it comes to sports — "unless there is a step backwards," she said.

All that's left to be announced is the resumption of combat sports, for which Charest didn't share a definitive date.
"Today's announcement means a return to a certain normality that will be good for everyone," she said.
