This dreamy Montreal hike leads to a hidden footbridge so you can literally walk on water
Feel like you're floating through the marshes! ☁️🐢☁️

A couple on a footbridge surrounded by marshes.
Though temperatures are set to drop this week, Montreal has seen one of its warmest winters on record and — with spring officially beginning March 19 — you've probably been dreaming about fun outdoor activities to do.
No matter the season, a hike at a beautiful Quebec nature park should be on every Montrealer's to do list — especially this one, which leads to a hidden 500-metre long floating grand walkway along the park's swamps and marshes.
It's actually one of the longest footbridges of its kind in the province and with about a year of construction on the park finally wrapping up in 2022, why haven't you gone and enjoyed it yet?
You can also find a second 100-metre footbridge at the park, which was recently renovated and includes an observation area with seating. Yes, you should totally use the vantage point to scope out the park's flora and fauna including beavers, turtles and ducks!
Bordering the shores of Lac Des Deux Montagnes and Rivière Des Prairies, Parc-nature du Bois-de-l'Île-Bizard is around a 45-minute drive from downtown Montreal and has several kilometres of hiking and cycling trails to explore. There's also a lookout, picnic areas and restrooms so you can turn it into a full day trip that feels like an actual vacation — without leaving the city.
Although this park is perfect for spring and summer weather when you can swim and canoe, it is open all-year-round. In the spring and fall, it's a prime spot to watch the migration of the Canada geese. In the winter, you can cross-country ski or snowshoe.
The lakeside views are just as beautiful during the day as they are at sunset — so any time is really the best time to visit Parc-nature du Bois-de-l'Île-Bizard.
