Canada Is Going To End The Quarantine Requirement For Fully Vaccinated Travellers

Border rules will be easing up in July!
Contributing Writer

Our country is slowly coming back to life again! The federal government just announced an easing up of Canada border rules in July, which many will be excited about.

Both the hotel quarantine rule when entering Canada by air and the mandatory quarantine when entering by land will no longer be required for fully vaccinated travellers soon.

When will the quarantine requirement end for fully vaccinated travellers?

"Beginning July 5, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, fully vaccinated travellers who are permitted to enter Canada will not be subject to the federal requirement to quarantine or take a COVID-19 test on day-8," a press release stated.

Fully vaccinated travellers who are entering Canada by air will also no longer be required to stay at a government-authorized hotel upon arrival starting July 5.

"For these new measures to apply to them, fully vaccinated travellers must still meet all other mandatory requirements, including pre- and on-arrival testing."

What about non-fully vaccinated travellers?

The government confirmed that "there are no changes to Canada's current border measures."

"They must continue to adhere to the current testing and federal quarantine requirements, which have been effective in reducing importation and transmission of COVID-19 and variants in Canada, and provide COVID-19-related information electronically through ArriveCAN before arriving in Canada."

"Unvaccinated air travellers must also book a three-night stay at a government-authorized hotel before their departure to Canada."

According to the Government of Canada's website, "People who have received both doses are considered fully vaccinated."

When can I get my second dose in Quebec?

Quebec is currently in the process of moving up all second-dose vaccination appointments.

On June 22, Quebecers ages 25 and up will be allowed able to reschedule their appointments on Clic Santé. Anyone between the ages of 18 to 24 can move theirs up the following day.
