COVID-19 case counts have been on an encouraging decline in Quebec over the last few weeks. The daily results for June 5 for Montreal and Laval were only 57 and 13 new cases of COVID-19 respectively, which is the lowest we've seen in months.

Throughout la belle province, there have been no new deaths related to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours and the number of new cases has dropped below 200, with 179 confirmed cases.

The Quebec government has reported nine fewer hospitalizations out of a total of 274 and three fewer people in intensive care.

These numbers can be explained by the success of the vaccination campaign as 6,518,159 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

Starting Monday, June 7 Montreal and Laval will be moving into the orange zone.
