You may have to kiss your favourite e-liquid flavours goodbye. According to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Quebec is about to crack down on vaping in the province.

"Christian Dubé intends to take action to better control vaping," it says.

The statement followed a report by a "special intervention group on vaping," which presented several recommendations for managing vaping in Quebec.

The recommendations concerning aromas and flavours, as well as the maximum nicotine limit, are of particular concern to us.

One of the seven recommendations is to ban the sale of all vape products with a flavour or aroma other than tobacco — a stark contrast to the wide array of vaping systems from which consumers can currently choose.

It is also recommended that Quebec limit any remaining pod systems, vape juice bottles and device chambers to 20 mg/ml of nicotine.

Other recommendations include creating a sales license for vaping products and tobacco products, reducing the number of vape stores near educational institutions and creating a new tax on vaping products.

"With the growing popularity of vaping products, especially among young people, it becomes imperative to act to prevent a new generation from becoming addicted to nicotine," Dubé said.
