Just a few days before the grand reopening of La Ronde, Narcity Québec is the first to learn that thrill-seekers will have to wait several more months before they can try the new roller coaster, the "Vipère."

Announced last summer as Canada's first free-flying roller coaster, its inauguration was scheduled for the 2020 season, but that has been delayed.

The postponed reopening of the Vipère coaster at La Ronde

"Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some construction projects have had to be delayed or stopped. Given these delays, our new ride planned for this season, Vipère, will open in 2021," Karina Thevenin, Six Flags' public relations officer, confirmed.

To give you a taste of what's in store for you next year, the ride promises to be quite an experience.

Passengers first take a vertical lift and rise to a height of 33 metres before plunging into freefall dives in addition to 360-degree turns and inversions.

The official reopening of La Ronde is scheduled for August 3, 2020. Season Pass holders will be able to enjoy a preview of the park from July 25 to August 2.
