Here's What's Open & Closed On Victoria Day — Aka Fête des Patriotes — In Montreal

The first long weekend of the summer(ish) season is here and even though Quebec doesn't call it Victoria Day (it's the Journée nationale des patriotes), Quebecers certainly appreciate the day off. 

So whether you want to celebrate the queen or simply chill in the park on your day off, some things won't be operating. Here's what's open and closed on May 24.

What's closed on Monday?

Banks and government offices will be closed, as will municipal courts.

There will be no mail delivery or pickup, and some restaurants might be closed.

What's open on Monday?

The SAQ says the "majority" of its stores will be open, so feel free to get your drink on.  

The STM will be operating on a holiday schedule. 

The schedule for "sports and cultural facilities" will vary by borough, according to the city, so you should call ahead. 

The Espace pour la vie properties, the Biodome, Botanical Garden and Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium will be open.

Household waste collection will continue as usual except for compost in Montréal-Nord, which will be collected Tuesday instead. Ecocentres will also be open.

According to the Weather Network, it'll be sunny with a high of 19 degrees.
