This 13-Km Nature Walk In Laval Will Plunge You Into A 'Winter Wonderland'

Start 2021 on the right foot!
Senior Writer

If you want to start 2021 on the right foot (literally!), grab your "new year, new me" attitude and take a nature walk through Laval's gorgeous urban forest, Le Bois de l'Équerre.

These woods prove that you don't have to travel far to find a full-on winter wonderland.

Le Bois de l'Équerre covers 2.25 square kilometres and offers 13 kilometres of trails — some of which are specifically groomed for winter walking (or winter running if you're into that).

The landscape includes sugar maple groves, tree-covered wetlands and an "exceptional forest ecosystem" that is over 90 years old!

Rumour has it (OK — a Google reviewer told us) that, in the winter, this is a great environment for woodpeckers of all shapes and sizes. So be prepared for birdwatching as you make your way along the nature trails.

This forest is also the perfect place for snowshoeing.

Every Saturday and Sunday from December 26 to March 21, you can borrow snowshoes on-site if you go between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

What could be better than the beauty of the great outdoors, and a little exercise — two things that are hard to come by during the pandemic.

Best of all, most Quebecers can enjoy this activity. It's free, the Kéroul trail is accessible to people with wheelchairs or strollers, and dogs are welcome on leash.
