I Tried The McRib At McDonald's Canada & Seriously Wish I Hadn't (VIDEO)

The McRib is back…unfortunately.

The McDonald's McRib has officially made its comeback across Canada after a whopping 10 years.

The "legendary" McDonald's sandwich was last seen on Canadian menus back in 2014, so it's safe to say that folks have been anticipating its return for quite a while. In fact, many Canadians were so excited over the McRib's return that they were in tears. Talk about a loyal food following.

Well, after dropping on January 30 at McDonald's across Canada, I knew I had to find out what all the fuss was about. I decided the McRib making its way back to McDonald's menus was the perfect opportunity to get my very first taste of the limited edition sandwich.

McDonald's Canada describes the McRib as a "tender and juicy boneless pork patty dipped in tangy BBQ sauce, topped with slivered onions and tasty pickles, all served on a toasted homestyle bun."

Sounds delicious, right? And while the McRib was, in fact, made up of all those mouthwatering ingredients, the result was slightly underwhelming.

McDonald's McRib Taste Test

For starters, the name is a bit misleading, considering there is nothing remotely reminiscent of ribs in the McRib. Perhaps the shape? Even then…we're dealing with a thin pork patty rather than a succulent and thick cut of meat you'd usually find yourself gnawing on when having real ribs.

The McRib also needed more pickles, as the two measly slices of pickles I got simply did not suffice. Meanwhile, the McDonald's McRib could use significantly fewer onions, or at least onions that are diced into smaller pieces because the post-McRib indigestion is too real.

As for the bun, it was fine, but who's running to McDonald's for a McRib for the bread? Now, I will admit that the BBQ sauce was delicious, so much so that a finger lick or two may or may not have occurred. Nevertheless, the sauce wasn't strong enough to make it a worthwhile sandwich.

McRib Verdict

Overall, I was disappointed.

Considering how much hype surrounded the return of what many refer to as an "iconic sandwich," I was expecting a groundbreaking comeback when in reality I was left with mild heartburn and sticky fingers.

Sorry not sorry, Ronald.
